Well we just had out meeting with the boys doctor and head of neonatology. Gavin's PVL won't get any worse. No more cysts should appear and the area should no longer grow. His cysts are only located on the posterior end of his ventricles. It could be a lot worse and stretch along the entire span of his ventricle. The injury is in the white matter not the grey, so he should suffer no intellectual delays. Because of te location of the damage and the extent the doctors believe he will has motor and muscle movement issues but will not be wheel chair bound. Only time will tell though.

We will continue working with physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy on discharge.

If the boys stay spell free they should be home in a week or two! With cold, flu, and rsv season we won't be having many visitors except those helping me with the boys. And you all will be stripped down, gowned, and sanatzed. Just kidding :) but you will all scrub up and no one with even a sniffle, cough, or itchy anything will be coming over.

That's all for now!
Both feeding tubes are out! Nippling aka nursing or bottle feeding every feeding. Maintaining their temperature in their cribs. Gabe has been spell free for 15 days! And Gavin only 2. They have to have 7 spell free days to go home. That's the last requirement!!!! We are getting to close :)

Meeting their doctors at 2p. And speech therapy will be there at 11a to evaluate the boys before the meeting because they can't make it!

They just moved both boys into open cribs again and they took gabes feeding tube out to see if he can nipple all his feedings. They may have to put it back but if he does well eating and keeping up his temp then since he's been spell free with no bradycardia or apnea since the 16th he may come home soon! Gavin still has his tube and he switched from a slow flow nipple to a normal nipple but he's still a super sleepy eater but it could be due to his muscle control from the PVL. We have a meeting about them and discharge plans and treatment plans tomorrow at 2p with their team of doctors and therapists. We will see how things go!

Two of Ethan's teeth came through today :) hes been learning so fast! Today he walked backwards all over the house and he's been bouncing like he's ready to jump jump jump! All my boys are getting so big! :)

I love them all more everyday and literally couldn't even imagine how my life would've been without them. They are what fulfill my life.

Gavin was a sleepy butt today and gabe was wide awake!
I am so sleep deprived and the twins aren't even home yet.

So today I just got our first bill for the boys nicu stay. Today is day 26. The bill is for days 1-9 and it is $15,000 after medicare PER boy. With that logic we are now up to $45,000+ plus the cost of labs, ultrasounds, and mri's per boy after Medicare. That is just room and board. And we still have a couple weeks to go.

Total to date: $90,000 plus cost of ultrasounds, labs, and MRIs

I'm feeling blessed they didn't have more complicated stays.

Today Tim and I got to see the boys together! :) I nursed them both for 15 minutes instead of 30 and Tim and I finished the feeding with a full feed worth of fortified milk to bulk the little men up! They didn't drink much of ther bottles so they got lots off of me which makes me so happy I could cry. As a mother there is no better feeling then knowing if all you had in then world were your babies and the clothes on your back, that you could all survive. That you are the sole sorce of their growth and development.

They are gaining weight too! Gavin's up to 4lb 10.8oz and Gabe is up to 4lb 6.9oz :) The boys are so great at nursing and nippling the bottle. Thir weigh gain is showing it!

Just got e to bed. I've tried laying him in his bed twice and he woke up and wanted no part of that. But he has o problem sleeping in front of our window ac on the couch. Goofy baby.

I'm going to enjoy my pretzel cheddar mini hotdogs and then go to sleep :)

Tim and I are spending time with the boys again tomorrow since he is off! Then all evening playing with Ethan an working on his big boy potty again.

Just called! The nurses are all super impressed that a day shy of 34 weeks/25 days old, that the boys are so skilled at nursing and eating off a bottle. They take their whole feedings from the bottle and don't have to gavage any of it! :) gabriel weighs 4 lb 5.5oz and Gavin weighs 4lb 8.5oz now! Such big boys!

Daddy gets to see them today for the first time in a WEEK! He's super excited :) I cannot wait to show him how big they are getting. They've each gained like 8oz since he saw them last.

Ethan is being a talkative wild man today. He is trying so hard to make conversation and is repeating sounds like he's trying to form words. He wants so badly to be able to converse with me and tim. He is getting so big :) his new move is attempting to jump. He bends his knees and bounces up on his tippy toes. Hes getting so smart too! He will be such an amazing big brother. I cannot wait for his to understand that he has little brothers. :)
